Start with characters that change meaning
Review dimensions, quantities, materials and specifications before general notes. Decimal points, minus signs, diameter symbols and similar-looking characters may be hard to distinguish in a poor source.
For example, “1.5” and “15” differ by a single point but have different meanings. This is an inspection example, not a reported result from a particular job. Resolve uncertain values from the original information rather than guessing a plausible number.
Confirm that the object contains editable text
Select the label in your target CAD software and check whether its characters can be edited. A collection of line segments shaped like letters is different from a text object. Recognizable marks in a browser preview do not alone establish the object type in the file.
The site fails the job if OCR processing fails rather than delivering glyph outlines as a substitute for text. A completed job can still contain individual recognition errors, placement issues or display differences that require review.
Check placement as well as spelling
A correctly recognized number can be misleading beside the wrong leader. Follow its connection or source arrangement, particularly in dense dimensions, multiline notes and vertical labels.
If a target application shows boxes, missing characters or unexpected fonts, separate character-content issues from display issues. Inspect the text value and then the font environment. Appearance at one zoom level is not enough to judge recognition.
Recheck corrections and measure geometry separately
Keep the downloaded original and edit a working copy. A written dimension does not establish that the geometry has that length. Scans and sketches need a separate scale check.
Use DXF in CAD software when inspecting and editing CAD text. SVG is useful for vector viewing and compatible downstream workflows, but a particular SVG viewer is not a substitute for inspecting the text objects in the CAD file.
- Compare critical values, units and symbols with the source.
- Confirm editable text objects in CAD software.
- Check label placement and the objects being described.
- Save a revised copy and independently measure critical geometry.
