Start with the original scan
Use the scanner output or original image export when available. Messaging thumbnails, repeated screenshots and heavily compressed JPG files may have lost thin strokes, character openings or decimal points. Increasing their pixel dimensions does not recover missing detail.
There is no need to convert every source to JPG. Image to CAD accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and BMP. If your source is a PDF, export the required page as a supported image using your document software first; this site does not currently accept PDF uploads.
Remove distractions without cutting off context
Toolbars, cursors, chat windows and desktop backgrounds can become unwanted linework. Crop them from a copy while retaining the complete drawing, relevant dimensions, leaders and notes.
Keep a border or title block when its information is needed. If you only need a component outline, an unrelated border can be removed. Leave enough margin around arrows and characters so that cropping does not cut away an endpoint or part of a label.
Check the weakest details after cleanup
Shadows, folds and stains can resemble drawing lines. Adjust brightness or contrast while comparing small regions with the original. Aggressive cleanup may remove pale lines along with the background.
Inspect a faint structural line, a small number and a dense intersection. If any becomes broken or merged after processing, reduce the adjustment or return to the original copy. There is no single threshold that suits every scan.
Separate preparation from result inspection
Each image may be up to 20MB and 5.625 megapixels. Crop to the required drawing area when appropriate and retain an original for comparison. Repeatedly saving a low-quality JPG is a poor way to preserve fine detail.
You can upload and generate a preview without entering real-world dimensions first. Afterwards, inspect the linework, recognized text and scale. A clear source does not by itself establish engineering accuracy.
- Check the supported format and file size.
- Inspect fine lines, labels and crop boundaries.
- Generate a preview and compare regions with the source.
- Sign in to download, then check scale and critical details in CAD software.
